The duties of the ushers are very simple.

Arrive at the church narthex ready to greet worshippers about 15 minutes before the service starts.

Attendance Count

There will be a tally sheet on a clipboard for reporting the attendance at the service on the bulletin table in the vestibule. You can do a head count from the back of the church and enter the number onto the tally sheet. This is very important.

If there is no clipboard in the narthex, please pick it up from the table at the side entrance where the bulletins are placed and bring it to the narthex before worshippers start arriving.

 

Offering Collection

If you are the only usher that day, choose someone before the service to help you with the offering. If the church is full, you may need to choose three more people besides yourself to take the offering.

Assist anyone in need with seating.

Assist Acolyte

You will light the acolyte’s candle lighter. The acolyte will let you know when the lighter needs to be lit during the first hymn. There will be lighters on the table for this purpose.

Check the wick on the candle lighter to assure that it is working properly.

If there is no acolyte that day, please light the candles on the altar table before the service starts.

If you cannot attend on the Sunday on which you are scheduled to usher, please call someone on the list to take your place to ensure that we have an usher each Sunday.
